Tonya Dobson - Chairperson
My name is Tonya Dobson. I am new to the board this year. I am married to Stacy Dobson. We have three adult boys, 2 of which are married, and one 11-year-old daughter. We have been members of Bethesda Baptist Church since 2009. My family has been affiliated in some capacity with Bethesda Baptist Church since 2000 when my oldest joined the Mother's Morning Out Program. After my boys all attended the MMO program they attended Bethesda Christian Academy from Kindergarten through the 8th grade. My daughter is currently at BCA in the 5th grade. I was the Technology teacher for grades K- 8 at Bethesda Christian Academy for 11 years from 2006 -2017. I am currently the Director at Grove Park Chapel Preschool. I have been at Grove Park Chapel Preschool since 2017. I earned a BS in Accounting from the University of NC at Greensboro and after working in accounting for 5 years the Lord led my heart for children into the world of kingdom education. I look forward to continuing to always seek God's will for my life. It is my passion to work alongside families to nurture their children as they are growing physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Stephen Poulson
My name is Stephen Poulson and I am excited to be serving as a BCA Board Member. I work for a local pharmaceutical company, Biogen, where I assist families in obtaining therapies for rare diseases. I currently serve as the Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Training at Nehemiah Christian Center here in Durham. I have called Durham home for the past 17 years. I am married to Yolanda Poulson and our two children, Hannah and Micah are students here at BCA. I enjoy sports, travel and all things Marvel Cinematic Universe. The beach is my happy place and whenever traveling with my family on vacation, I am typically searching for aquariums to visit. I am a servant leader and I look forward to adding value to BCA as a board member while assisting in the creation of Ambassadors for Christ.
Talmage Layton
My name is Talmage Layton. I have been a member of Bethesda Baptist Church since 1957. I served on the deacon board, finance committee, and transportation committee. I live in the Redwood Community where we farm and I am active in that community. I am a member of the Redwood Ruitan club and serve as the mayor and program committee chairman. I am a charter member of the Redwood Volunteer Fire Department, where I served as a fire fighter and a board of director member for many years. I am also active in the agricultural community. I am the president of the Durham County Farm Bureau and serve on the state board of directors for North Carolina. I am the chairman of the Durham County Soil and Water board of supervisors. I serve on the Durham County farmland preservation board. I am on the executive board of the Piedmont Rural Community Development Council. I am the chairman of the area for Agricultural Cost Share Committee and serve on the strategic planning committee for the State Association of Soil and Water Districts. I graduated from NC State University and have been married for more than 40 years.
Candice Webb
My name is Candice Webb and I am new to the BCA Board. I am originally from New Bern, NC and have lived in Durham since 2003. My family and I are members of Cup of Salvation Deliverance Church in Durham, where I have served in various capacities since joining in 2011. I am a proud alumna of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology & political science. I also earned a Master of Education from NC State University. I work at SAS Institute as a Learning & Development Specialist; before joining SAS, I worked for more than 18 years at several colleges and universities in the Triangle. I am thankful for the husband God gave me, Linwood Webb, and our two sons Cameron and Andrew who are both students at BCA. We love BCA and thank God for the ways the BCA staff and community have loved and supported our children over the years. My prayer is that God will continue to draw people to Him through the ministry and service of BCA. I am humbled and excited to contribute to that work as I serve on the Board of Directors.
Skip Marsh
My name is Skip Marsh. I am married to Julie and we are parents of Melinda and Meagan. My wife and I have been a part of Bethesda Baptist Church since 1997. I have served as Youth Leader, Small Group Leader, Deacon and now an Elder. I am a fan and alumni of the University of Tennessee so naturally I am not a Florida fan. Isaiah 55:11 reminds that it is up to God to accomplish the purpose of his word. We need to be obedient to share it so that He can do the work.
Meredith Mooney
My name is Meredith Mooney. I am married to a wonderful man, Tyson; we have been married since 2013. While we have no children, however, we do have an awesome pet tortoise named Philip Charles (Phil). Tyson and I have been members of Bethesda Baptist Church since June 2014. I serve in the youth ministry as well as sing in the choir. I received two bachelor's degrees from Liberty University. One is in Child and Adolescent Development and the other is in Human Services. I currently work for Durham Public Schools as an Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director of Research and Accountability. My prayer is that BCA and Bethesda Baptist Church would be anointed with the Lord’s Spirit and live in freedom just as 2 Corinthians states, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
Sharon Castina
My name is Sharon Castina and my family has been part of BCA since 2018 when we enrolled one son in the preschool, one son in Kindergarten and our daughter in 3rd grade. We go to Summit church at Brier Creek where we all (except for our youngest) serve in the Sunday kids programs. My husband, Jeff and I got married in college and moved to Durham after graduating from Penn State University. I have a background in nursing but after grad school at UNC Chapel Hill I went into clinical trial research and am currently a Senior Project Director at a contract research organization in Durham.
I was blessed to go to a Christian school K-12 and I'm so glad that my kids get to experience this environment as well. As an adoptive family we've had some challenges and BCA staff and teachers have partnered with us and filled gaps for us. I'm so excited about the future of BCA and very glad to be part of it by serving on the board. My name is Sharon Castina and my family has been part of BCA since 2018 when we enrolled one son in the preschool, one son in Kindergarten and our daughter in 3rd grade.
